Potting, sealing – sample – how it’s made?
Today’s industry is making higher and higher technical demands when performing various tasks. Therefore, in order to ensure higher quality, it is necessary to improve the manufacturing process. An ideal example is the use of dispensers and industrial robots from APCom, influencing a real improvement in the quality of the final product.
In order to demonstrate some of the basic functionalities of APCom’s robot, we created a sample for you, on which the process of potting and sealing was performed.
Potting – is one of the most popular and effective ways to insulate the system from external conditions. It consists in flooding the enclosure, which contains, for example, electronics, with a compound of sealant (such as PU, EPOXYD or SILICONE). Potting is widely used in many industries, especially where electronics of any kind are part of the component being manufactured. The type of material depends on the specific requirements of the project. It is currently one of the best available ways to properly protect products and improve their quality. The potting process is showed below.
The application of a sealant for electronics is a commonly used solution. It allows you to create a protective layer that perfectly protects against adverse external conditions. Proper coating requires proper dispensing and mixing, as well as the application of the flood on the product. Our two-component flood dispensing equipment, can perfectly cope with this kind of task. Ingredients in separate tanks are prepared for intake with strict control of process parameters. Then the separate ingredients delivered to the dispensing pumps are then pumped in exact, predetermined, programmed quantities and mixed together in a precise, even and continuous manner. This gives the production process stable repeatability.
The use of a poured seal.
The use of a poured gasket is a precise method of sealing the edges of a joint, the housing. In the case of electronics, there is very often a need to join the edges of the housing in such a way that it is tight and can sometimes be opened without damage. In this case, a classic oring-type seal or a dedicated cut-out foam seal can be used. Another example would be components of various types of mechanism, such as a car engine or drive train, which require complete tightness to function properly. Traditional gaskets are not the best solution, as they add to the production of waste and are more susceptible to damage during installation or further operation. A better solution is poured gaskets using a precision dispenser. Pouring gaskets involves not only better performance and protection for the product, but also a reduction in the cost of the work itself. Below, we show you silicone gaskets in the form of silicone dispensing.
Automation of silicone dispensing is something that will certainly optimize your company’s production processes. The robots we offer are not only brilliantly programmed, but also made of high-quality components. Their reliability and regularity is something that ensures a consistent level of work, and significantly reduces losses caused by human error.
